A  1P-5200  Driver Group
B  1U-8605  Seal Guide
C  1P-5100  Driver Group

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  9. Install retainer (2), and bolt (1). Use Table 2 to determine the correct torque specification for bolt (1).

    Table 2
    Torque Chart
Sales Model  Serial Prefix  Torque Specification
    924G  6YW, 3DZ, 9SW, AAN, 3PZ, DDA, RBB, WMB  120 ± 20 N·m (89 ± 15 lb ft)
    924GZ  AAB, DFZ, RTA, WGX,  120 ± 20 N·m (89 ± 15 lb ft)
    928G  DJD, WLG  105 ± 20 N·m (77± 15lb ft)
    IT28G  DBT, WAC, EWF  105 ± 20 N·m (77± 15lb ft)
    930G  TWR, TFW  105 ± 20 N·m (77± 15lb ft)

Note: The following measurements include seal drag.

  10. Secure the pinion housing in a holding fixture. Use a torque wrench to check the rolling torque on bolt (1). The rolling torque must be 1.3 N·m to 2 N·m (11.5 lb in to 17.7 lb in) for new bearings. The torque for used bearings should be .9 N·m to 1.3 N·m (7.9 lb in to 11.5 lb in).

  11. If the rolling torque exceeds the specification in Step 10, then increase the number of shims in Step 8.

  12. If the rolling torque does not meet the specification in Step 10, then reduce the number of shims in Step 8.

End By:

  1. Install the differential and bevel gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Install".
