  4. Remove two bolts (7), the washers and two nuts (9) that secure spherical bearing (8) and stabilizer rod (1) to bracket (10).

  5. Remove stabilizer rod (1) from the machine. The weight of the stabilizer rod is 27 kg (60 lb).

  6. Note the orientation of the mounting brackets on spherical bearings (4) and (8) in relationship to stabilizer rod (1) for installation purposes. Use a hydraulic press in order to remove spherical bearings (4) and (8) from stabilizer rod (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Use a hydraulic press in order to install spherical bearings (4) and (8) in stabilizer rod (1). The bolt holes in the mounting brackets on spherical bearings (4) and (8) must parallel the centerline of stabilizer rod (1).
