Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

1. Place the oscillating axle on wood blocks, as shown.

2. Remove ten bolts (1), the washers and cover (2) from rear trunnion support (3). The weight of the cover is 22 kg (49 lb).

3. Remove thrust bearing (4) from rear trunnion support (3) .

4. Remove ten bolts (5) and plate (6) from rear trunnion support (3). The weight of the plate is 15 kg (33 lb).

5. Remove thrust bearing (7) from rear trunnion support (3) .

6. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting slings to rear trunnion support (3), as shown.

7. Use Tooling (A) and the hoist to carefully remove rear trunnion support (3). The weight of the rear trunnion support is 113 kg (250 lb).

8. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to trunnion (9) .

9. Remove sixteen bolts (8) and the washers.

10. Use the hoist to carefully remove trunnion (9). The weight of the trunnion is 56 kg (123 lb).

11. Remove O-ring seal (10) from rear trunnion support (3) .

12. Use Tooling (B) and a press to remove sleeve bearing (11) from the back of rear trunnion support (3) .

1. Use Tooling (B) and a press to install sleeve bearing (11) in the back of rear trunnion support (3) .

2. Install O-ring seal (10) in rear trunnion support (3) .

3. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to the sleeve bearing and the O-ring seal.

4. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to trunnion (9) .

5. Use the hoist to carefully install trunnion (9). The weight of the trunnion is 56 kg (123 lb).

6. Install sixteen bolts (8) and the washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft).

7. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting slings to rear trunnion support (3), as shown.

8. Use the hoist to carefully install rear trunnion support (3) to trunnion (9). The weight of the rear trunnion support is 113 kg (250 lb).

9. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to thrust bearing (7). Install thrust bearing (7) in rear trunnion support (3) .

10. Install plate (6) and ten bolts (5). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft).

11. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to thrust bearing (4). Install thrust bearing (4) in rear trunnion support (3) .

12. Apply 6V-5765 Sealant to the mating surfaces of rear trunnion support (3) and cover (2). Install cover (2), ten bolts (1) and the washers. The weight of the cover is 22 kg (49 lb). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft).

End By: Install the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
