Electronic Control Module (Brake) - Remove and Install

Usage:

785C 1HW

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the cab rear cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install".

    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Remove two bolts (3) from brake electronic control module (2).

  2. Loosen two bolts (4) from the slots in the side panels.

  3. Slide plate assembly (1) toward the rear of the cab.

    Note: Mark wire harness (5) and wire harness (6) for installation purposes.

  4. Disconnect wire harness (5) from brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

  5. Disconnect wire harness (6) from brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

  6. Remove bolt (8) and the washer in order to disconnect grounding strap (7).

  7. Remove the three remaining bolts (8), the washers, the mounts and the spacers in order to remove brake electronic control module (2) from plate assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Verify that all of the components of brake electronic control module (2) are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  2. Inspect all of the components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

  3. Use three bolts (8), the washers, the mounts and the spacers in order to install brake electronic control module (2) onto plate assembly (1). Tighten three bolts (8) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (18.4 ± 2.2 lb ft).

  4. Use the remaining bolt (8) and the washer in order to connect ground strap (7). Tighten bolt (8) to a torque of 25 ± 3 N·m (18.4 ± 2.2 lb ft).

  5. Connect wire harness (6) to brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

  6. Connect wire harness (5) to brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

  7. Tighten two bolts (4) that are located in the slots of the side panels.

  8. Install two bolts (3) in order to install brake electronic control module (2) and the plate assembly (1).

End By:

  1. Install the cab rear cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install".
