Electronic Control Module (Brake) - Remove and Install
Start By:
- Remove the cab rear cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install".
- Remove two bolts (3) from brake electronic control module (2).
- Loosen two bolts (4) from the slots in the side panels.
- Slide plate assembly (1) toward the rear of the cab.

- Disconnect wire harness (5) from brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.
- Disconnect wire harness (6) from brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

Illustration 5 g00521579 - Remove bolt (8) and the washer in order to disconnect grounding strap (7).
- Remove the three remaining bolts (8), the washers, the mounts and the spacers in order to remove brake electronic control module (2) from plate assembly (1).
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

- Verify that all of the components of brake electronic control module (2) are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
- Inspect all of the components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.
- Use three bolts (8), the washers, the mounts and the spacers in order to install brake electronic control module (2) onto plate assembly (1). Tighten three bolts (8) to a torque of
25 ± 3 N·m (18.4 ± 2.2 lb ft) . - Use the remaining bolt (8) and the washer in order to connect ground strap (7). Tighten bolt (8) to a torque of

- Connect wire harness (5) to brake electronic control module (2) at the electrical connection.

- Install two bolts (3) in order to install brake electronic control module (2) and the plate assembly (1).
