Solenoid Valve (Differential Lock) - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the accumulator (differential lock). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Accumulator (Differential Lock) - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

  1. Loosen four retaining nuts (1) in order to disconnect four hydraulic hoses (2) from valve (3) . Remove the O-ring seals from the hydraulic hoses.

  1. Remove two electronic connectors (4) from the retaining brackets. Disconnect two electronic connectors (4) .

  1. Remove two bolts (5) and the washers that secure valve (3) to the machine frame. Remove valve (3) from the machine frame.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Position valve (3) to the machine frame. Install two bolts (5) and the washers that secure valve (3) to the machine frame.

  1. Connect two electronic connectors (4) . Install two electronic connectors (4) in the retaining brackets.

  1. Install the O-ring seals to the hydraulic hoses. Tighten four retaining nuts (1) in order to connect four hydraulic hoses (2) to valve (3) .

End By: Install the accumulator (differential lock). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Accumulator (Differential Lock) - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.
