Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace

Personal injury or death can result from a fire. Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters. |

Do not fill fuel filter with fuel before installing the fuel filter. Contaminated fuel causes accelerated wear to fuel system parts. |
- Remove the engine compartment access cover on the right side of the machine.

- Remove the fuel filter element and properly discard the used fuel filter element.

- Wash the filter mounting base in clean nonflammable solvent. Be sure that all of the old seal is removed.
- Coat the seal of the new fuel filter element with clean diesel fuel.
- Install the fuel filter element to the filter base by hand.
- When the filter gasket contacts the filter base, tighten the filter element by an additional 3/4 turn. There are index marks on the filter at 90 degree intervals. Use the marks as a guide for proper tightening.
- Prime the fuel system. See the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" for this procedure.
- Replace the access cover.
