Priority Valve - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Raise the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Tilt". The information is in this manual.

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

  1. Apply identification marks on the hydraulic hoses for installation purposes. Disconnect hydraulic hoses (1) , (2) and (3) . Remove the O-ring seals from hydraulic hoses (1) , (2) and (3) .

  1. Remove four bolts (4) that secure priority valve (5) to the mounting bracket. Remove priority valve (5) from the mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Position priority valve (5) to the mounting bracket. Install four bolts (4) that secure priority valve (5) to the mounting bracket.

  1. Install the O-ring seals in hydraulic hoses (1) , (2) and (3) . Connect hydraulic hoses (1) , (2) and (3) to the priority valve.

End By: Lower the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Tilt". The information is in this manual.
