For satisfactory power train life, maximum continuous operating weight should not exceed 12130 kg (26,750 lb). This weight must include any added ballast, additional weight due to optional belts, and weight of empty chemical tanks and brackets. The machine can be operated with the additional weight of liquid chemicals or fertilizer, although a total vehicle weight of 14320 kg (31,500 lb) with full tanks should not be exceeded. Reduction in drive train life should be expected if this additional weight is used to increase drawbar pull at speeds below 7.3 km/h (4.5 mph). Reduce speed and use caution when roading if the machine weighs more than 12130 kg (26,750 lb), as the undercarriage component life can be reduced under rough roading conditions. |
In order to improve the visibility in front of the machine, chemical tanks can be mounted on the outside of each undercarriage. Use the following guidelines when you mount chemical tanks and when you use chemical tanks.

Three-piece mounting tube |
- When you attach the mounting brackets for the tanks, use tubes that are long enough to span the distance under the machine. The outside diameter of the tube is 101 mm (4 inch). Also, a three-piece front mounting tube is required in order to provide clearance for the mounting brackets for the hardbar.
- When possible, remove the counterweights. This will help minimize the total machine weight. You may want to modify the mounting brackets for the tanks in order to move the center of gravity forward by 762 mm (30 inch). This will improve the balance of the machine when you use three-point hitch mounted implements. Also, when you move the center of gravity, you may remove some of the front counterweights.
- Use caution when you road with full tanks. The added weight multiplies loads on the vehicle structure when you road in rough conditions.
- Only mount tanks to the tubes in the undercarriage. Mounting tanks to other locations may cause structural damage. Also, mounting tanks to other locations may affect the machine's braking ability.
Consult any Caterpillar dealer for information about suppliers for mounting tanks.
