  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  1. Position seal (43) to shroud assembly (20) . Install nine screws (45) , the nuts and the clamps to secure seal (43) to shroud assembly (20) . Tighten screws (45) to a torque of 2.25 ± 0.25 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in) .

  1. Position seals (46) to shroud assembly (20) . Install three screws (45) , the nuts and the clamps to each seal (46) . Tighten screws (45) to a torque of 2.25 ± 0.25 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in) .

  1. Position seals (41) to shroud assembly (20) . Install three screws (42) , the nuts and the clamps to each seal (41) . Tighten screws (42) to a torque of 2.25 ± 0.25 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in) .

  1. Install studs (40) to tank assemblies (22) and (23) . Studs (40) should protrude to a distance of 65 mm (2.6 inch) from the face of the tank assembly. Use 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound in order to secure the studs in position.

  1. Position four gussets (37) and two channels (38) to radiator core (26) . Install bolts (36) to gusset (37) and channels (38) . Install Tooling (A) to top channel (38) . Carefully raise the radiator core assembly module to a standing position. Place radiator core (26) on appropriate cribbing. The weight of the radiator core is 59 kg (130 lb) .

  1. Gaskets (35) are positioned between radiator core assembly module (26) and the tank assemblies.

  1. Position tank assemblies (22) and (23) and new 6U-8687 Gaskets to radiator core assembly module (26) .

  1. Position stiffening strips (32) and (34) to tank assemblies (22) and (23) . Install nuts (33) that secure stiffening strips (32) and (34) to tank assemblies (22) and (23) .

  1. Rotate the radiator assembly around 180 degrees. Lower the radiator to the cribbing. Position stiffening strips (29) and mounting brackets (30) to the tank assemblies. Install nuts (31) to each side of the radiator assembly in order to secure stiffening strips (29) and mounting brackets (30) to the tank assemblies.

    The radiator is suspended from a hoist in order to facilitate installation of components to the bottom of the radiator.

  1. Use the hoist and raise the radiator assembly far enough in order to be able to install components to the bottom of the assembly. Position stiffening strip (27) to tank assembly (28) . Install nuts (27) that secure stiffening strip (28) to tank assembly (23) .

  1. Position stiffening strip (24) to tank assembly (22) . Install nuts (25) that secure stiffening strip (24) to tank assembly (22) .

  1. Position shroud assembly (20) to the radiator. Install four bolts (21) that secure shroud assembly (20) to the radiator. The weight of shroud assembly (20) is 20 kg (44 lb) .

  1. Position baffle (18) to radiator (3) . Install five nuts (19) and the bolts that secure baffle (18) in radiator (3) .

  1. Position baffle (17) to radiator (3) . Install five nuts (16) and the bolts that secure baffle (17) in radiator (3) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (15) to elbow (14) .

  1. Position elbow (14) to radiator (3) . Install four bolts (13) that secure elbow (14) to radiator (3) . Install the O-ring seal to connector (12) . Install connector (12) to elbow (14) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (11) to blanking plate (9) .

  1. Position blanking plate (9) to radiator (3) . Install four bolts (8) that secure blanking plate (9) to radiator (3) . Install fitting (10) to blanking plate (9) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (7) to blanking plate (6) .

  1. Position blanking plate (6) to radiator (3) . Install four bolts (5) that secure blanking plate (6) to radiator (3) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (4) to connector (2) .

  1. Position connector (2) to radiator (3) . Install four bolts (1) that secure connector (2) to radiator (3) .
