    Note: Illustration (A) has the bolt pattern for the following serial number range: (S/N: 8DN850-UP) (S/N: 7DM850-UP) (S/N: 1DR1700-UP). Illustration (B) has the bolt pattern for the following serial number range: (S/N: 8DN1-849) (S/N: 7DM1-849) (S/N: 1DR1-1699).

  1. Apply Loctite 5188 to the center housing (2).

  2. Place the transmission and the extension housing in position with the center housing.

  3. Rotate the coupling (44) until the coupling aligns with the pinion shaft (45). Turn the yoke on the end of transmission until the power take-off shaft (PTO) aligns with the splines in the pump drive gear (43).

  4. Install bolts (46) and tighten to a torque of 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 60 lb ft).

  5. Install bolts (41). Tighten the larger bolts to the torque of 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft). Tighten the smaller bolts to the torque of 120 ± 20 N·m (90 ± 15 lb ft).

  6. Use Tooling (B) in order to raise transmission (36) above the hardbar in order to remove the blocks.

    Note: The right side transmission mount must be in the vertical position.

  7. Use Tooling (B) in order to lower transmission (36) in place.

    Note: Breather (39) is mounted on the extension housing for the following serial numbers: (S/N: 8DN1-885) (S/N: 1DR1-1767) (S/N: 7DM1-954).

    Note: Breather (39) is mounted on the cab for the following serial numbers: (S/N: 8DN886-UP) (S/N: 1DR1768-UP) (S/N: 7DM955-UP).

  8. Install breather (39) on extension housing (35).

  9. Install six bolts and washers (38) to transmission mounting brackets (37). Tighten bolts (38) to a torque of 800 ± 100 N·m (590 ± 75 lb ft). Repeat this procedure for the other side. Remove Tooling (B).

  10. Install hose assembly (34) to extension housing (35).

  11. Attach the quick disconnect fitting (33) for the charge pressure to the electronic control valve for the transmission .

  12. Apply Loctite 595 on the center housing and install cover (32). Install bolts and washers (31).

    Note: Inspect the O-ring seal on the end of the steering pump. If the O-ring seal is damaged, replace the O-ring seal.

  13. Use a lifting strap with a suitable lifting device in order to lower the steering pump (25). Position the steering pump (25) on the pump drive (30) and install four bolts and washers (29).

  14. Install tube assembly (27) and hose assembly (28) on steering pump (25).

  15. Install tube assembly (24) and hose assembly (26) on the bottom of steering pump (25). Connect the end of tube assembly (23) to the center housing. Install tube assembly (19) and connect to steering pump (25).

  16. Install steering and hydraulic oil filter assemblies (20) and attach with eight bolts and washers (22).

  17. Install transmission oil filter assembly and attach with two bolts and washers (21).

  18. Install three tube assemblies (19) on steering and hydraulic oil filter assemblies (20).

  19. Position cable assemblies (16) and install two brackets (17). Connect two electrical connectors (18).

  20. Position brackets (14) that are attached to cable assemblies (16) in place and install four bolts and washers (15).

  21. Connect electrical connectors (11). Connect tube assembly (13) to transmission oil filter assembly (12) and connect both ends of tube assembly (10).

  22. Connect sixteen electrical connectors (9).

  23. Connect brake tube assembly (7) to tee fitting (6) and install bolt (8).

  24. Place tube assemblies (4) in position and install four clamps (5).

  25. Connect tube assemblies (4) to the electronic control valve for the transmission (3) and to the rear of the machine.

    Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the proper filling procedure and the proper levels for the hydraulic system.

End By:

  1. Connect the engine frame and the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Frame and Transmission - Connect".

  2. Install the cab. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for Machine Systems, "Cab - Install".
