- Remove the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Removal".
- Separate of main frame and engine frame. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Frame and Engine Frame - Separate".
Note: The transmission and the extension housing should be removed as a unit. Removing the transmission and the extension housing as a unit will prevent damage to the power take-off shaft (PTO).
Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses and tubes for installation purposes. Cap all lines, hoses and tubes in order to prevent foreign material from entering the system.
- Remove magnetic drain plug (1) from the bottom of the center housing (2) and drain the common sump into a suitable container. Reinstall plug (1).

- Before you separate the transmission and the extension housing from the center housing, you need to hold the pump drive gear (43) and the two couplings (44) through the access cover. The pump drive gear (43) and the two couplings (44) stay in the extension housing during removal. If you fail to do this, pump drive gear (43) and the two couplings (44) will fall when you do the separation. Remove bolts (46) from the center housing.
- Separate transmission (36) and extension housing (35) from center housing (2). The weight of transmission (36) and extension housing (35) is
1180 kg (2600 lb) .
