SUBJECT: Differential Lock Indicator Lamp on the Dash Stays Illuminated
PROBLEM:
Reports from the field indicate that the differential lock LED (1) on the dash has remained illuminated. The differential lock is an option that still appears within the configuration file on Electronic Technician. The LED (1) on the dash is still active.
On current production machines, the sensor and wiring to the switch have been removed. The sensor and wiring did not indicate to the operator that the differential lock had been engaged. The sensor and wiring indicated that the solenoid had been energized.
When you install the differential lock through the Electronic Technician, the LED on the dash will permanently illuminate, whether or not the differential lock has been engaged. The differential lock is still operated by depressing and holding the foot switch that is located on the cab floor to the left of the brake pedal.
SOLUTION:
Ensure that the differential lock option within the configuration file has not been installed. By not installing the differential lock option in the configuration file, the LED on the dash will not illuminate. The next release of Electronic Technician, 2003B, will remove the differential lock option from the configuration file.
