SUBJECT: Oil appears to be blowing out of the exhaust stack and or seeping out from the flex pipe.
PROBLEM:
A drain on certain mufflers may plug and not allow water to fully drain from the exhaust system. After a rain or a wash, water may collect in the muffler. During initial warm up, sooty water may expel from the exhaust pipe.
SOLUTION:
Check to see that the drain is not plugged. Up to 3 additional 3/16" holes may be drilled through the outer and inner walls of the muffler at the lowest point. This procedure will improve water elimination in the muffler. The holes should be equally spaced along the length of the muffler.
During assembly, grease is used to lubricate the stretch clamps. The clamps are used to secure the flex pipe and the rigid pipes together. During the early hours of operation, the grease may flow from under the clamp and cause an oily residue to appear in the general area of the clamp.
