SUBJECT: Shock hazard for the VR-6 and K65-12B Voltage Regulators

PROBLEM:

It has been determined that a potential of AC voltage exists on the heat sink assemblies which extend from the voltage regulator body for the following part numbers: 202-8638, 219-4078, 219-4079, 219-4080, and 219-4081. The AC voltage is present while the generator set is operating. The AC voltage has a residual duration of eight (8) minutes once the generator set is stopped. A warning label may be attached to the voltage regulator.

SOLUTION:

Caution must be exercised when performing any service related adjustments to the VR-6 while, the generator set is in operation or for a duration of eight (8) minutes after the generator set has been stopped. Authorized service personnel should utilize the appropriate service tools while working on the VR-6 (i.e. Rubber Gloves, Screw Drivers with Rubber Coated shanks, etc.)
