Usage:
CHALLENGER 45 (1DR),
CHALLENGER 55 (7DM) AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS
Problem:
After flashing Electronic Monitoring Center (EMC) software V6.37 and entering Mode 12 in Challenger Technician (CT) to change configuration parameters, the changed values will not be saved, or the changed values will revert to the previously set values.
Solution:
The problem has been isolated to a configuration file in CT. The problem can be overcome by one of three methods:
- A. Use the EMC (dash panel) itself instead of CT in order to set and save the configuration values.
- B. Download an updated ct.vtl file from the Cat Mailbox and copy it into the CT program file directory, overwriting the existing file. This option requires no editing skills, but will erase any readout groups that may have been saved.
- C. Edit the ct.vtl file directly. Make sure to make a backup copy of the file before proceeding, in case a mistake is made during the editing process.
Using Notepad or similar text editor, open file ct.vtl. Go to line 499 (V1.1 of ct.vtl) of the program, and locate statement (A) as shown in the illustration.
The "+7" in this line should be changed to "+10", to obtain statement (B) as shown in the illustration. Because an additional digit was added, you will need to delete a space after the "+10" in order to keep the following columns lined up.
Then, save the file as ct.vtl. Make sure it is being saved as a "text" document. The Challenger Technician software should now perform correctly. The corrected file will be included in the next revision of Challenger Technician.
