Problem:
Due to casting irregularities, some 105-8698 Axle Housings on front axle arrangements of 824G Wheel Tractors, 825G Soil Compactors, 826G Landfill Compactors, and 980G Wheel Loaders along with105-8699 Axle Housings on rear axle arrangements of 824G Wheel Tractors and 980G Wheel Loaders may weep small amounts of oil or appear and feel damp. The oil appears on the backside of the axle housing in the bowl/center area, opposite from the drive input side.
Solution:
Replace the axle housing with a new housing. The axle housings are cast from ductile iron and cannot be structurally welded.
