Technical Support Representative: John Lundin, Caterpillar Inc., Phone: (630) 859 5369 Facsimile: (630) 859 6027 E-Mail: LUNDIJM
Mailing Address (for photographs/other material): Caterpillar Inc., P.O. Box 348, Aurora, Illinois 60507. (Attention: John Lundin, G86).

A short term solution is now in place at the factory: all units are "scuff sanded", to make sure that correct top coat adhesion is obtained.
A team has been formed to make sure that the Wheel Loaders And Excavator Division (WLED) paint processes remain under control in the long term. Variables being investigated include:
- 1. Under curing and over curing of primers.
- 2. Avoidance of heavy soil contamination.
- 3. Appropriate wash and rinse processes.
- 4. Reduction of variability in primers obtained from suppliers.
- 5. The use of improved paint mixing equipment.
