Be Sure To Use Correct Stub Shaft When Replacing Cam Idler Gear {1234,1212}

Usage:

Challenger 75 (4CJ),
Challenger 75C (4KK),
Challenger 85C (9TK) Agricultural Tractors

The above machines are powered by a 3176 (43Z) Engine. When installing a 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear in the front gear group of a 3176B Machine Engine, the cam idler gear must be mounted on a 119-3778 Stub Shaft. The 119-3778 Stub Shaft is machined to a tighter tolerance to ensure proper clearance for oil to pass between the shaft and the bearing in the cam idler gear. There are some other stub shafts that appear to fit in the 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear of the front gear group. However, they will not provide the proper clearance. Lack of proper clearance may cause the cam idler gear bearing to seize. Bearing seizure will cause the center bolt to come loose and the shaft will no longer be seated properly in the block. This condition may damage the block. Therefore, the 119-3778 Stub Shaft should always be used with the 132-3233 Cam Idler Gear in the front gear group.
