Description of Change: An improved one piece assembly has replaced the former pin, washer and bolt on the kingpins for the front axle assembly. This change improves the retention ability of the assembly.
Adaptable To: The new 156-8559 Pin Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 117-2176 Pin (item 4 in Illustration 3), 5T-0504 Washer (3), 7X-2562 Bolt (1) and 8T-4123 Washer (2) and is effective with 24H (7KK58, 7KK65-UP) Motor Graders. A quantity of four is required for each machine.
The change is adaptable to earlier machines by the following procedure.
1. A larger hole, 75mm (3.0in) diameter, can be cut in the 5T-0504 Washer (the top washer) and the washer welded to the 117-2176 Pin. If the washer is missing, a new 5T-0504 Washer can be ordered and modified as shown in Illustration 1 or a washer can be fabricated from 16mm ASTM A36 steel plate, 150mm (5.9in) diameter as shown.

2. Assemble the modified 5T-0504 Washer to the 117-2176 Pin. Plug weld a 12mm (.5 in) fillet weld with a root penetration of 1.5mm (.06 in) as shown in Illustration 2.

NOTE: When replacingstalling the 5T-0504 Washer (3), the end of the pin (4) should extend 2 mm to 3 mm (.08 to .12 in) beyond the lean arm (5). This leaves a 2mm to 3 mm (.08 to .12 in) gap between the washer (3) and the lean arm (5) to allow proper lubrication of the joint. (See Illustration 3.)
