Fan Drive Grease Fitting Relocated {7510}

Usage:

24H (7KK) Motor Graders

Description of Change: The fan drive grease fitting has been relocated from the hitch area to a location next to the engine oil quick fill. With the former location, confusion sometimes resulted in the over greasing of the fan drive. This can cause a buildup of grease in the fan and radiator. Grease in the fan pulley can cause excess vibratation. Grease in the radiator can cause overheating.

Adaptable To: The 155-8345 Lubrication Lines Group (not serviced) has replaced the 129-8538 Grease Lines Group in the 8X-8402 Chassis Arrangement and is effective with 24H (7KK65). The following table shows the changes in the serviceable parts. This change is adaptable to all earlier machines by the following procedure.

1.a. (For cluster lube configurations) On the existing 8X-4493 Block, remove the two lines to the fan drive 132-2016 Hose Assembly and 132-2017 Hose Assembly). Remove the corresponding grease fittings and connectors.

1.b. (For auto lube configurations) Remove the 141-2106 Block. Remove the grease fittings but leave the (2) 6V-8647 Connectors Installed. This block will be reclocated in step 5.

2. Remove the 2P-6578 Instruction Plate. Drill four 2.6 mm (.10 in) diameter holes at the dimensions shown in illustration 1. Attach the 2P-6578 Instruction Plate with (4) 7B-3028 Screws. The instruction plate can be relocated from the present location.

3. Make a slot in the door assembly to the dimensions shown in Illustration 1.

4. Remove existing 117-1953 Bracket and install new 154-6867 Bracket.

5. Assemble (2) 6V-8647 Connectors and (2) 3B-8489 Grease Fittings to the 141-2106 Block (connectors already assembled in auto lube configuration). Install the 141-2106 Block with 8T-4121 Washer and 8T-4182 Bolt to Bracket in step 4.

6. Install 155-8349 Hose Assembly and 155-8348 Hose Assembly to block in step 5. Use (2) 4J-5477 O-Ring Seals with each hose assembly. Note: The 155-8348 Hose Assembly can be ordered through parts service or can be produced by cutting the existing hose to a length of 1145 mm (45.1 in) and assembling a 9X-3881 Permanent Coupling to the cut end. The 155-8347 Hose Assembly can also be ordered or produced in the same manner by cutting to a length of 1530 mm (60.2 in).

7. Route both hose assemblies through a 9M-4995 Clip (item 1) as shown in Illustration 2 and 3. Route the new 155-8349 Hose Assembly (item 2) using (1) 4K-8864 Clip (item 3) and existing bolt and existing 7X-0492 Elbow (90 Deg.) (item 4). Route the new 155-8348 Hose Assembly (item 5) as shown using the existing 8C-6865 Connector (item 6).

8. Assemble the quick fill plumbing to the bracket in step 4.
