Improper Monitoring Of DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEVEL By Vital Information Management System (VIMS) {3258,1920,7601}

Usage:

789B (7EK) Off-Highway Trucks

Description of Change: Improper monitoring of DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEVEL by the Vital Information Management System (VIMS) occurs in VIMS on board configuration software for all previously released 789B Off-Highway Trucks equipped with REAR AXLE FILTRATION SYSTEMS.

Adaptable To: The following change is effective with 789B (7EK536) Off-Highway VIMS Trucks equipped with REAR AXLE FILTRATION SYSTEMS. The change is adaptable to all 789B (7EK1-535) Off-Highway VIMS Trucks equipped with REAR AXLE FILTRATION SYSTEMS.

For all Off-Highway Trucks listed above it has been discovered that VIMS will not alert properly for low differential oil level. Oil levels are currently being checked under conditions which will allow false warnings.

Corrected software is now available for order through Morton Parts. The following chart lists corrected software part numbers and their application.

This chart reflects that the following changes have occurred.

139-8434 has been canceled and replaced by 142-0865

139-8435 has been canceled and replaced by 142-0866

The following procedure should be followed for all 789B (7EK1-535) Off-Highway Trucks equipped with REAR AXLE FILTRATION SYSTEMS.

1. Download any data from the system to avoid loosing any stored information since installation of new software will delete stored data.

2. Verify that the current source code loaded in the VIMS module is 130-1345 Source Code Software Group. Upload this source code if it is not currently loaded.

3. Upload the correct configuration for the 789B Truck as listed in the chart above.
