Power Beyond Covers On Hydraulic Controls May Need To Be Changed{5000,5051}

The machines mentioned above, have an end cover (Power Beyond) installed on the control valve that will allow the installation of additional attachments, controlled by an external valve. Other D4 and D5 model tractors may already have added the Power Beyond cover in accordance with Service Magazine; February 25, 1991; "New 4T-7862 Cover Available To Add Additional Hydraulic Circuits (Power Beyond) To the Hydraulic Control Valve".

If additional attachment requiring the external control is not going to be used, the 4T-7862 Power Beyond Cover must be removed and a standard cover (4T-2731 Cover), installed. The standard cover has internal, cored passages which allow the flow of oil back to the tank. Continued use of the hydraulic system without external controlled attachment installed can cause damage to the hydraulic pump.

NOTE: Correct part numbers are 4T-2731 Cover (Standard) and 4T-7862 Cover (Power Beyond). These numbers may be incorrect in the referenced Service Magazine.
