Certain new tools are required when servicing the machines beginning with the product identification numbers listed above. Some of the tools are new, others are existing tools that are now required for these machines.
The following tools will be required as service is performed on the listed component. These tools are in addition to the tools currently listed in the service manuals for these models.
Single Caliper Disc Brakes
1U-9003 Brake Piston Puller. This tool is used to pull the brake piston out of the cylinder housing when the brakes are being rebuilt.
Thermostatically Controlled Fan Clutch (Attachment)
FT-2461 Pressing Bar, FT-2462 Pressing Tube, FT-2463 Ring, FT-2464 Plate, FT-2465 Plate, FT-2466 Mounting Plate, FT-2467 Rotating Plate. These tools are used during the disassembly and assembly of the fan clutch.
NOTE: At this time, Caterpillar does not have a Disassembly and Assembly manual for the fan clutch. An overhaul manual is available from Rockford Powertrain.
Differentials
5P-1730 Fixture, 4D-7541 Retainer. These tools are used to assembly the four pinion bearings now used in the differentials.
Air Conditioning System With R-134a Refrigerant.
Much of the service tooling for air conditioning systems that contain R-134a refrigerant are different than the existing tools used for systems with R12 refrigerant. Refer to the Service Manual, Air Conditioning And Heating Systems With R-134a Refrigerant, SENR5664-01 and the Shop Products Guide, NENG2500, Pages 7 through 14.
