Usage:
1. Use tool (A) to remove fuel filter (1) from the fuel filter base.
2. Disconnect tube assembly (3) from fuel filter base (2).
3. Put identification marks on wires (6), and disconnect them from sending unit (5).
4. Remove sending unit (5) from fuel filter base (2).
5. Remove bolts (4), the gasket and the fuel filter base from the fuel injection pump.
6. If necessary, remove stud (7) from the fuel filter base.
NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the fuel filter and base.
7. If the stud was removed from the fuel filter base, put 9S3263 Thread Lock only on the threaded end of stud (7) that is to be installed into the fuel filter base. The thread lock must cover the threads approximately 7.6 ± 1.5 mm (.30 ± .06 in.) from the taperlock end of the stud.

Do not damage sealing surface (8) of the stud. |
8. Install stud (7) in the fuel filter base, and tighten it to a torque of 68 ± 13 N·m (50 ± 10 lb.ft.).
9. After stud (7) has been tightened to the specified torque in Step 5, the distance from the sealing surface of base (2) to the end of stud (7) must be 24.6 ± 1.3 mm (.97 ± .05 in.).
10. Inspect the fuel filter base gasket, and make a replacement if necessary.
11. Put fuel filter base (2) in position on the fuel injection pump, and install the bolts that hold it.
12. Connect tube assembly (3) to the fuel filter base.
13. Install sending unit (5) in the fuel filter base.
14. Connect wires (6) to the sending unit.
15. Put clean diesel fuel on the filter gasket.
16. Install fuel filter (1) according to the directions on the filter. See the Maintenance guide for the correct service intervals.
