NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3228" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3228" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The diode used to control voltage spikes in the 1383208 Cable Assembly may fail on certain AP-650B, AP-1000B, AP-1050B, and AP-1055B Asphalt Pavers; and on certain Barber-Greene BG-225C, BG-245C, BG-260C, and BG-2455C Asphalt Pavers manufactured and sold with 113-1195 or 144-7938 Sonic Grade Controls (Topcon) by Caterpillar. If this occurs then damage could occur to the 1082398 Grade Control Box. A new 1686500/">168-6500 Cable Assembly needs to be installed which does not have the diode. The 1082398 Control Box HAS A 5 Amp diode which will provide the necessary circuit protection.

Action Required
1. Remove the existing 1383208 Cable Assembly. This runs from the tractor to the junction box on the screed.
2. Install a new 1686500 Cable Assembly.
NOTE: This program applies only to those machines sold by Caterpillar with Topcon Grade Controls. If the grade controls were supplied by an aftermarket grade control supplier, then that supplier is responsible for any cable replacement on the asphalt paver.
