NOTE: This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5593" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, parts should be removed from Parts Stock as soon as possible.

The 136-8340 Gauge may fail due to moisture entry on certain AP-650B, AP-1000B, AP-1050B, and AP-1055B Asphalt Pavers; and on certain Barber-Greene BG-225C, BG-245C, BG-260C, and BG-2455C Asphalt Pavers manufactured by Caterpillar. If the existing gauge fails and the date code on the back of the gauge is before 9827 the gauge should be replaced with a new 1629682 Meter Assembly.

Action Required
Parts Stock
Remove all 136-8340 gauges (meter assemblies) from dealer stock that have a date code before 9827. The date code is located on the information tag on the gauge.
Affected Product
1. Remove the existing gauge. Inspect the date code on the information tag located on the back of the gauge. Replace the gauge if the date code is before 9827.
NOTE: See the Parts Disposition instructions.
2. Prior to replacing the gauge, the calibration setting on the back of the gauge will need to be set dependent upon the model of the machine. For the AP-1055B-8BM and BG-2455C-6TN the calibration setting should be set to B. For the models AP-1000B-7HN and BG-260C-8GN the calibration setting should be set at A. For the models AP-1050B-6ZN, BG-245C-4XN, AP-650B9DN and BG225C-5GN the calibration setting should be set at 4,6,or 8.
3. After installation of the new 162-9682 Gauge, the machine should be operated and the gauge reading verified.
NOTE: Some earlier machines were equipped with a 128-3890 Gauge and a small capacitor located on the backside of the 077-8200 FPM/Engine Tachometer Switch.The capacitor must be removed when the new 162-9682 Gauge is installed for proper machine operation.
