NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4766" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the February 22, 1999 (Revised August 1999) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the TERMINATION DATE.

The engine covers on certain AP-1050B and AP-1055B Asphalt Pavers; and on certain Barber-Greene BG-245C and BG-2455C Asphalt Pavers Manufactured by Caterpillar have been improved.
resulting in lower restriction and increased air flow. Ducting has also been added that directs exhaust air straight out the right side instead of down and to the rear. The left side ducting helps prevent debris from being drawn into the radiator off the track.

ENGINE COVER GP. REWORK PROCEEDURE
Parts required
Machines with High Ambient Oil Cooler Option
Parts required are the Basic Group and delete (1) 170-7747, add (1) 170-9177
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the side doors p/n 127-8514 and p/n 127-8515, refer to the Parts Manual KEBP0169-01. Retain the mounting hardware to be used for installation of the new doors.
2. Remove the left and right angled louvered cover assemblies p/n 125-6528 and retain the hard ware.
3. Disconnect the MPC-10 propel and material control module harnesses using a 4mm or ' allen wrench.
4. Remove the MPC-10 propel and material control modules.
5. Remove the MPC-10 mounting Bracket As. p/n 111-2159 and Plate As. p/n 112-4272, refer to the Installation Gp.- Electrical in the Parts Manual KEBP0169-01.
6. Drill and tap six -20NC holes as shown in Illustration #1 and install 171-1196 / 170-9040 flashings and 170-5746 angle as shown in Illustration #2.
7. Drill and tap four -16NC holes as shown in Illustration #4.
8. Install the new MPC-10 mounting brackets and controllers as shown in Illustration #6.
9. Install the left side ducting and door as shown in Illustration #3.
10. Rework 170-6622 Fender as shown in Illustration #7.
11. Install the left and right upper louvered cover assemblies 170-7747 both sides. Note; the left upper louvered cover assembly 170-9177 must be substituted if the machine has the optional auxiliary oil cooler.
