Usage:
773 Trucks ( 63G689-Up)
There have been reports of cracks near the welds on fuel tanks used on 773 Trucks with Serial Numbers 63G689-Up. If cracks are a problem in these areas, reinforcement plates can be fabricated and added to the fuel tank to increase its strength.

Be certain to use necessary safety precautions when cutting or welding on fuel tanks. Refer to the Service Magazine of March 8, 1972, (FEG2582-3) for instructions on welding fuel tanks or hydraulic tanks.

... Remove the fuel tank from the machine.
... Make necessary repairs to any cracks on the fuel tank.
... Fabricate reinforcement plates from mild grade steel to the dimensions shown in Illustrations 1, 2, and 3.

... After installation of the reinforcement plates, check the fuel tank for leask; then install the fuel tank on the machine.
