Installation Procedures For 5N5880 Remote Shut-Off Group And 5N6336 Oil Pressure Indicator Gauge Group{7418,7403,7455}

Usage:

D379, D398 And D399 Industrial Engines Equipped With Hydramechanical Shut-Offs

The 5N5880 Remote Shut-Off Group and 5N6336 Oil Pressure Indicator Gauge Group are available for use on D379, D398 and D399 Industrial Engines equipped with hydramechanical shut-offs.

The information which follows gives removal and installation procedures for these groups.

5N5880 Remote Shut-Off Group

First, remove the valve assembly which is made of the 9K6765 Knob, 6F612 Nut, 7L6597 Seal, 5N4725 Adapter, 4J4506 or 5N6096 Spring and 5N4724 Valve. To do this, loosen the 5N4725 Adapter, shown in Illustrations 1 and 2, and remove the parts.

Assemble the 5N5880 Remote Shut-Off Group (9K6765 Knob, 6F612 Nut, 5N7408 Cylinder and 7L2224 Seal). (See Illustration 3.)

NOTE: Some earlier remote shut-off groups have a 5N5878 Valve, 5N5879 Cylinder and 6F612 Nut which must be assembled. The distance between the end of the cylinder and the end of the valve spool must be 73.3 ± 0.5 mm (2.886 ± .020"). (See Illustration 4.) If an adjustment needs to be made, loosen the 6F612 Nut and turn the valve to get the correct dimension. Then tighten the nut.

Install the 5N5880 Remote Shut-Off Group in the location from where the original valve was removed. Be sure the 5M6214 Plug is in a position that has good access. Remove the 5M6214 Plug and install the necessary fittings to connect the remote shut-off hose in this port.

5N6336 Oil Pressure Indicator Gauge Group

Remove the 321268 Elbow from both the valve group and the hose which goes to the fuel rack shut-off. (See Illustration 1.) Then, install the 2D7325 Tee, which is part of the gauge group, in place of the elbow as shown in Illustration 5. Install the 8N5211 Indicator and the 321267 Connector on the tee and use the connector to install the hose on the tee as per Illustration 5.
