Usage:
G3516 (3RC, 8LD, 4EK, 5PN) Engine
A new stainless steel plate has replaced a former steel plate on all G3516 Engines equipped with the 32 degree separate circuit aftercooler (SCAC) arrangement.
The new plate is available as a component within 4W-9722 Plate Assembly. The change from steel to stainless steel was implemented in order to prevent the formation of rust. Under high humidity conditions rust can easily form on the air distribution plenum plate and the aftercooler outlet housing. When this happens, rust flakes can plug the flame arrestor preventing an adequate air-to-fuel mixture from entering the cylinder. Rust can also flow into the engine where it can contribute to ring and liner wear.
