Description of Change: New jacket water heater groups are available for these engines. These groups include a steel water tank and incoloy heating element. The water pump flow is 126 L/min (33 gpm) at 11.2 m (36.7 ft). A thermostatic valve controls the ON water temperature at 38°C (100°F), and the OFF water temperature at 49°C (120°F).

Each heater group includes a shutoff solenoid valve on the water outlet. This solenoid is capable of remote operation by a 24 VDC signal. The water heater may be mounted in vertical, horizontal, or base down positions. The jacket water heater group water outlet must always be at the highest point on the installed group.

The pressure relief valve can be adjusted from 172 to 1206 kPa (25 to 175 psi) and is preset to relieve at 517 kPa (75 psi). The pressure relief valve outlet should not be plugged when operating the jacket water heater.

Formerly, the jacket water heaters for these engines were provided on a "Custom Basis". Some of the components of these new jacket water heater groups may service the earlier Custom heaters. Consult your Custom heater technical manual for supplier part numbers. The following chart includes both Caterpillar part numbers and Kim Hotstart Manufacturing Company part numbers.

Adaptable To: Four new jacket water heater groups are available:
