--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: New camshaft kits are available for these engines. The kits include a new camshaft, valve lifters, and camshaft break-in lubricant. The new camshafts in these kits have a flat lobe design while the former camshafts had a tapered lobe deign. A phosphate coating has been added to the new camshaft lobes to help protect the lobes during engine break-in. The crown on the new valve lifter assembly has been reduced to decrease contact stress.
In order to further reduce contact stress, between the camshaft and valve lifter, the inner valve springs must be removed. The inner valve springs have already been removed from remanufactured cylinder head assemblies for these engines.
Adaptable To: The charts identifies the new and remanufactured camshaft kits and the serviced components of those kits.
NOTE: The camshaft kits are NOT the same for the diesel and gas versions of the these engines. The camshaft kits identified in this article are for GAS ENGINES ONLY.
