Usage:
3600 Family Of Diesel Engines
Description of Change: A new cylinder liner and cylinder liner sleeve are used in all distillate fuel applications with the exception of locomotive engines. The new liner and sleeve will help prevent carbon buildup on the piston top land. The new cylinder liner has a counterbore in the top of the liner to hold the new cylinder liner sleeve. The cylinder liner sleeve scrapes carbon deposits off the piston top land. This prevents the deposits from hardening and damaging the cylinder liner.
Adaptable To: When used together, the new 116-1042 Cylinder Liner and 116-0682 Cylinder Liner Sleeve are direct replacements for the 111-1561 and 7E-8268 Cylinder Liners in the above engines. The new cylinder liner and cylinder liner sleeve are effective with 3606 (8RB557), 3608 (6MC474), 3612 (9RC176), and 3616 (1PD223). When used together, the new cylinder liner and cylinder liner sleeve are adaptable to all earlier.

NOTICE The counterbored end of the cylinder liner sleeve is marked "TOP". The cylinder liner sleeve must be installed with the end marked "TOP" up, or damage to the engine will occur.

The new 4C-5719 Piston Ring Compressor is available and MUST be used to install the piston and rod assembly into the new cylinder liner. The new piston ring compressor has an adjusting screw which must be used to apply uniform pressure on the piston rings during assembly.
