Rework Procedure of the Coolant Level Wiring Harness on Certain G3306B Generator Sets {1408, 4459, 7422, 7938}

Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

This Special Instruction is for installing a separate wiring harness jumper to monitor the Separate Circuit Aftercooler (SCAC) coolant level.

Installation Procedure

    (1) Coolant sensor harness, connector M-C3

  1. Locate and disconnect Connector M-C3 on the coolant sensor harness from the SCAC coolant level sensor.

  2. Connect M-C3 on the coolant sensor harness to MA-C1 on the coolant jumper harness.

  3. Connect MA-C2 to the SCAC coolant level sensor.

  4. Route and secure coolant jumper harness along the coolant sensor harness, engine interface harness, and generator harness.

  5. Insert terminal MA-T3 of the coolant jumper harness into position 37 in the Y-C2 connector.

  6. Insert terminal MA-T2 of the coolant jumper harness into position 37 in the G-C14 connector.

  7. Route and secure coolant jumper harness along the EMCP harness.

  8. Insert terminal MA-T1 of the coolant jumper harness into position 113 in the A-C1 connector.

ECM Configuration

  1. Connect to Cat® Electronic Technician (ET).

  2. Open the "OCP Configurations".

  3. Expand the "Operator Control Panel".

  4. Select "Digital Inputs".

  5. Select "Digital Inputs #2".

  6. Select "Digital Input #2 Usage Type".

  7. Select "System Event" from the "New Value" drop-down box.

  8. Click "OK".

  9. Select "Event Input Function #2 Suspect Parameter Name".

  10. Select "Engine Aftercooler Coolant Level".

  11. Click "OK".

  12. Set the "Engine Input Function #2 Event Notification Delay Time" to 5 seconds.
