Engine Oil Filter Base - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil cooler.

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (1).

  2. Use Tooling (A) to remove oil filters (5). Drain the oil from the oil filters into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Discard the filters.

  3. Remove four bolts (2). Remove three bolts (4) and remove engine oil filter base (3).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  4. Remove plug (6), spring (7) and plunger (8).

  5. Remove plug (11), spring (10) and plunger (9).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install engine oil filter base (3) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply clean engine oil to the seal which is found on oil filter assemblies (5). Tighten oil filters (5) by hand until the seal contacts the sealing surface of the oil filter base (3). Tighten oil filters (5) to an extra turn of 270 degrees.
