New Jake Brake Slave Piston Lash Setting{1119}

C-10 (2PN) Truck Engines

The Jake Brake Slave Piston Lash Setting has been changed from the former 0.51 mm (.020 in) to the new 0.64 mm (.025 in). Jake Brake and/or engine performance begins to deteriorate when the slave piston clearance is less than 0.51 mm (.020 in). This change will help prevent Jake Brake and/or engine performance losses due to wear-in of valve train components and/or inaccuracy in slave piston lash setting. The new slave piston lash setting of 0.64 mm (.025 in) is effective with 3176B (9CK28128) and C-10 (2PN1096) Truck Engines. Please make note of this change in the appropriate Service Manual Modules.

NOTE: It is recommended that the new slave piston lash setting specification be set on all earlier 3176B (9CK) Truck Engines at the first opportunity.

NOTE: This change does NOT affect the Jake Brake Slave Piston Lash Settings on 3176 (7LG, 2YG) or C-12 (1YN) Truck Engines.
