Some fuel injection nozzles are being found with one or more spray orifices plugged. Some of the symptoms of plugged nozzle orifices are misfire, acceleration flutter, or possibly low power. In some cases, complete sets of nozzles have been changed when only one or two nozzles had plugged orifices.
Testing of returned fuel nozzles indicates that in most cases plugged or partially plugged orifices can be identified by checking the nozzle in a 5P-4150 Nozzle Testing Group and observing the nozzle spray pattern. If any of the above engine symptoms exist and plugged fuel injection nozzle orifices are found with the nozzle test group, only change the plugged nozzles, NOT the complete set of nozzles. The sources of debris that can cause the plugged orifices are being identified and fixes are being made.
