Usage:
3176 (2YG, 7LG),
3176B (9CK) Truck Engines
Description of Change: A new oil pressure regulating valve is used in the oil filter group. The new valve has a metering chamfer (see the Illustration 1) to reduce pressure oscillations in the lubrication system. The new valve also has an increased length (see Illustrations 1 and 2) to better contain the pressure regulating spring and protect the spring from being over compressed during cold engine starts.
Illustration 1. New 111-2645 Regulating Valve. Location of metering chamfer (A). Length (X) = 118 mm (4.6 in).
Illustration 2. Former 7C-0803 Regulating Valve. Length (Y) = 91 mm (3.6 in).
Adaptable To: The new 111-2645 Regulating Valve is a direct replacement for the former 7C-0803 Regulating Valve in the 9Y-3899 Oil Filter Group. The new 111-2645 Regulating Valve is in effect with 3176B Truck Engine 9CK5652 and is adaptable to all earlier 3176 and 3176B Truck Engines. The former regulating valve is canceled.
The new 111-2645 Regulating Valve should ONLY be installed if the oil pressure oscillations are causing erratic oil pressure readings on the Service Tool Status Screen, or on a manual oil pressure gage. The oil pressure oscillations DO NOT cause any engine damage.
