A New Gear Train Is Used on Certain C18 Marine Engines {1151, 1162, 1202, 1206, 1212, 1313, 1361, 1371, 3108}

Usage:

C18 GBM
Generator Set:
C18 (S/N: GBM1-UP)
Marine Engine:
C18 (S/N: GES1-UP; KJT1-UP; JKX1-UP)
C18 (S/N: J2K1-UP; T2P1-UP)

Description of Change: The new gear train has been developed to provide increased strength.

Adaptable To: The new gear train replaces the former gear train on certain engine serial numbers. The gear train part numbers that are present on the engine now must be used for ordering replacements.

Refer to Table 1 for the part numbers and details on the old and new gear trains.

Note: The engine flash file has also changed to interpret the new 87 tooth camshaft gear. This new flash file can interpret both the 96 and 87 tooth count.

Note: Changing to the new gear design is not recommended if a failure is encountered or during an overhaul. This engine news is to announce the design change and to reduce the chance of mis-matching components during service or repair.
