Description of Change: A procedure is available to replace the torque converter lip seal on certain CX31 and CX35 On-Highway Transmissions and CX31-P600 and CX35-P800 Petroleum Transmissions.
This procedure needs performed only if a transmission leak has been identified in the torque converter housing. Rust may also be found on the drive adapter.
The procedure uses a new Teflon lip seal. The 270-1705 Lip Type Seal is being replaced by the 363-2112 Lip Type Seal. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS7041, "Procedure to Replace Torque Converter Lip Seal on CX31 and CX35 On-Highway Transmissions and CX31-P600 and CX35-P800 Petroleum Transmissions".
The Special Instruction is available through the normal literature distribution system. The publication can also be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).
Adaptable To: The 270-1705 Lip Type Seal is being replaced by the new 363-2112 Lip Type Seal
