Assembly Procedure

Note: Inspect the O-ring seals, the seals, and the gaskets. Replace the O-ring seals, the seals, and the gaskets that are worn or damaged.

Note: Lubricate O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

1. Install retaining ring (47). Raise the temperature of stator (38) and lower the temperature of cam (36). Use Tooling (C) and a suitable press in order to install cam (46).

2. Position plate (43). Install retaining ring (42). Position bearing (39). Install carrier (31). Reposition stator (38). Install springs (41) with the maximum number of loops to the outside. Install rollers (40).

   Note: Carrier (31) should only rotate counterclockwise once rollers (40) and springs (41) are installed.

3. Position plate (45). Install retaining ring (44).

4. Install O-ring seal (36) in adapter (34).

5. Position impeller (29) on adapter (34). Position hub (35). Install bolts (33). Tighten bolts (33) to a torque of 105 ± 14 N·m (77 ± 10 lb ft).

6. Install carrier (31) onto stator (38). Install bearing (37).

7. Use two people in order to reposition impeller (29) on carrier (31). The weight of impeller (29) is approximately 31 kg (70 lb). Install retaining ring (30).

11. Position turbine (25). Install O-ring seal (24). Install dowels (23) to a dimension of 37.0 ± 0.5 mm (1.46 ± 0.02 inch).

15. Install coupling assembly (15) and race (16). Install bolts (14). Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft).

16. Install O-ring seal (13). Install piston (12). Install ring (11).

17. Lower the temperature of bearing (9). Use Tooling (C) in order to install bearing (9). Ensure that bearing (9) is flush with the inside of the housing. Install ring (10).

18. Use two people in order to reposition housing assembly (7). The weight of housing assembly (7) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to housing assembly (7). Position housing assembly (7). Install bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft). Install O-ring seal (6).

19. Install ring (5) onto retainer (3).

21. Install pilot (2). Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 30 ± 5 N·m (22 ± 3 lb ft).
