Introduction

This Special Instruction will guide you through the procedure to replace the circuit breaker for the jacket water heater. This new circuit breaker will improve the reliability of the jacket water heater.

Use only proper tools and observe all precautions that pertain to the use of those tools. Failure to follow these procedures can result in personal injury. Replacement Procedure for the Circuit Breaker

------ WARNING! ------

When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:

  • Make sure the unit is either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE.

  • Remove all fuses.

  • Make sure the generator engine is stopped.

  • Make sure all batteries are disconnected.

  • Make sure all capacitors are discharged.

  • Make sure residual voltage in the rotor, stator and the generator is discharged.

Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death.

Note: Isolate the generator before beginning any type of work. Ensure proper Lock Out-Tag Out procedures are followed at all times while work is being performed on the machine. Lock out generator before beginning any type of work.

  1. Open the generator set breaker and activate the emergency stop.

  1. Disconnect the battery cables and the auxiliary power supply for the battery charger and heaters.

  1. Locate the MCB12 circuit breaker on the panel chassis.

  1. Disconnect wire 132- and wire 134- from the terminals (1) .

  1. Remove MCB12 from the DIN rail by placing a small flat blade screwdriver into the spring loaded latch (2) .

  1. Install the 286-4744 Circuit Breaker into the opening and ensure that the circuit breaker is locked into the DIN rail.

  1. Reinstall wire 132- and wire 134- on the circuit breaker terminals (1) .

  1. Reconnect any power supplies or auxiliary supplies that were disconnected in Step 2.

  1. Verify that the jacket water is fully functional and operating correctly.
