Two Retainers Used To Better Fasten Air Inlet Pipes In Turbocharger Compressors {1058}

Usage:

3500 Family Of Engines Except 3508 ( 1ZF ),
3512 ( 3YF ),
3516 ( 4XF ) Generator Sets

Description of Change: A triangular-shaped retainer is used to more securely fasten the two air inlet pipes in the turbocharger compressor housings on the above engines. The shape of the retainers allows more contact with the flange on the pipes and minimizes the possibility of the pipe vibrating loose. Formerly, a washer was used at each location of the retainer.

Adaptable To: The new retainers can be used as direct replacements for the former washers on all the applicable engines. There are two threaded bosses on each compressor housing. Install one retainer in the upper boss of each compressor housing.

Location of new retainers on compressor inlet pipes-typical of Caterpillar vehicle applications except 789 Trucks.

Two 9Y0195 Retainers are needed for 3516 Industrial Engines (27Z), 3516 Generator Sets (25Z), 3516 Marine Engines (29Z), and 3516 Vehicular Engines (28Z).

Two 7W1944 Retainers are needed for all other applications, except the 789 Trucks which require four of these retainers.
