(1) Turbocharger

Note: The oil supply and the oil drain holes should be in the vertical position with respect to the engine when the turbocharger group (1) is attached to the exhaust manifold.

Use the following procedure to tighten the clamps for the turbocharger. Also, this procedure is used to orient the turbocharger turbine housing and the bearing housing in order to avoid binding:

  1. Loosen the V-band clamps in order to rotate the turbine housing.

  2. Position the turbine housing with oil lines so oil lines are aligned without binding.

  3. Tighten the clamp assemblies to 13.6 ± 1.2 N·m (120.3 ± 11 lb in).

  4. Lightly tap around the clamp assemblies with a soft faced hammer.

  5. Again, tighten the clamp assemblies to 13.6 ± 1.2 N·m (120.3 ± 11 lb in).

Note: Apply 4C-5599 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of six bolts (3).

(2) Torque for eight locknuts which secure the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold ... 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft)
