SERVICE MAGAZINE, AUGUST 20, 1979, PAGE 1. In the article "Flex Plate Kits Are Now Available For Vickers Vane-Type Hydraulic Pumps" that starts on Page 1 of the above Service Magazine, some wrong part numbers are shown in Chart B on Page 2. Correct these numbers as follows: For Pump Group 9J5041, change the Front Cartridge part number from 3G2247 to: 3G2747.
For Pump Group 9J5056, change the Front Cartridge part number from 3G1297 to: 3G2197.
For Pump Group 9J5061, change the Front Cartridge part number from 3G1298 to: 3G2198.
For Pump Group 9J5075, change the Rear Cartridge part number from 3G2932 to: 3G2832.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: Flex plate kits are now available for parts service of Vickers vane-type hydraulic pumps with "VQ" type cartridges. The flex plates are made of bronze with a steel back, and fit between the pump rotor and the support plates in VQ type pumps. Each kit has two flex plates and the necessary seals.
Tests show that the efficiency of a worn pump can be improved by the installation of new flex plates, if other components of the pump are still in good condition. Before a flex plate kit is installed, carefully inspect the condition of the pump. See the "Guideline For Reusable Parts" Form SEBF8025, and "Diagnosing Hydraulic Pump Failures" Form SEBD0501. The recommendation is to use these kits only in pumps that have a low number of hours, but the level of pump efficiency is no longer acceptable. Do not install the kit in a pump that has had a failure of other parts.
Adaptable To: All Vickers vane-type hydraulic pumps with 20VQ, 25VQ, 35VQ and 45VQ cartridges, including earlier pumps that have had a "VQ" type cartridge installed in place of the original "VHO" type cartridge. One kit is needed for each pump cartridge.
Chart A shows the kit part number for each cartridge size. Chart B shows the kit and cartridge part numbers in relation to pump groups. Chart C shows the kit part numbers in relation to cartridge part numbers. This chart can be used as a reference for earlier pumps that have a replacement "VQ" type cartridge installed.
