Procedure to Install the Muffler Bracket on Weatherproof Generator Set Enclosures and Improved Sealing of the Enclosures {0649, 1062}

This publication has also been created in order to detail the commissioning procedure that is required to maintain the water tight integrity of the weatherproof enclosure.

Installation Procedure

The following procedure is used when the supplied bracket assemblies are installed on certain weatherproof enclosures. Refer to Table 1 for the part numbers of the bracket assemblies.

Note: Only the bolts that are used to install the muffler bracket should be removed.

  1. Apply 119-0781 Adhesive to the bottom of muffler bracket.

  1. Place the bracket in the correct location and bolt the bracket down using the appropriate bolts and washers.

  1. Apply 119-0781 Adhesive over the top of the bolts and washers.

  1. Apply 119-0781 Adhesive around the edge of the bracket assembly and the roof of the enclosure.

Caterpillar now seals all bolts on the roof of both weatherproof enclosures and sound attenuated enclosures. Also, the roof of the enclosure is sealed between panels during assembly in addition to caulking the seams after assembly.
