Assembly Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Observe all safety precautions recommended by the chemical manufacturer for handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Install pressure sensor group (41) in manifold group (39). Tighten pressure sensor group (56) to a torque of 10 ± 2 N·m (90 ± 18 lb in).

  2. Install solenoid valve group (42) in manifold group (39). Tighten solenoid valve group (57) to a torque of 105 ± 10 N·m (77 ± 7 lb ft).

  3. If required, orient solenoid valve group (42) . Tighten the nut on the rear of the solenoid valve to a torque of 5.4 ± 0.6 N·m (48 ± 5.25 lb in).

  4. Install regulator (43) in manifold group (39). Tighten regulator (58) to a torque of 140 ± 14 N·m (103 ± 10 lb ft).

  5. Install manifold group (39) from the control cabinet. Install bolts (40).

  6. Install the wiring harness assembly in the control cabinet. Connect to the existing connectors and secure the harness with cable straps.

  7. Install diaphragm (38) onto the pump group.

  8. Install pump head (36) and bolts (37) onto the pump group.

  9. Tighten bolts (37) in the sequence shown.

  10. Install valve assembly (34) and valve assembly (35) into diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24).

    Note: Ensure that the flow indicators on the valve assemblies are pointed in the correct direction.

  11. Install solenoid valve group (27) and solenoid valve group (29) in the manifold group. Tighten solenoid valve groups to a torque of 130 ± 10 N·m (96 ± 7 lb ft).

  12. If required, orient solenoid valve groups . Tighten the nut on the rear of the solenoid valve to a torque of 5.4 ± 0.6 N·m (48 ± 5.25 lb in).

  13. Install temperature sensor group (31) in the manifold group. Tighten temperature sensor group (31) to a torque of 48 ± 5 N·m (35 ± 3.5 lb ft).

  14. Install pressure sensor group (30) in the manifold group. Tighten pressure sensor group (30) to a torque of 20 ± 3 N·m (177 ± 26.5 lb in).

  15. Install adapter assembly (28) and adapter assembly (33) in the manifold group .

  16. Install heater assembly (32) in the manifold group.

  17. Connect diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24) to manifold group (25). Install bolts (26).

  18. Tighten bolts (40) in the sequence shown.

  19. Install manifold group (25) and diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24) as an assembly. Install bars (23) and locknuts (22).

  20. If equipped, install the heat wrap around diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24).

  21. Connect harness assembly (18) to the junction block. Connect harness assembly (19) to the pump heater. Connect harness assembly (20) and harness assembly (21) to the pump group.

  22. Connect harness assembly (13) to the temperature sensor. Connect harness assembly (14) to the heater group. Connect harness assembly (15) to the pressure sensor. Connect harness assembly (16) and harness assembly (17) to the solenoid valve groups.

  23. Install electronic control group (11), and retaining hardware (9).

  24. Connect harness assembly (10) to electronic control group (11). Secure harness (10) with tie straps (12).

  25. Install front door (8) and secure with bolts (7).

  26. Install cover (5) and bolts (6). Install eyebolts (4).

  27. Install side door (3) and bolts (2). Repeat for the other side.

  28. Install adapter assemblies (1) to the cabinet assembly.
