Disassembly Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove strainer assemblies (1) from the cabinet assembly

  2. Remove bolts (2) and side door (3). Repeat for the other side.

  3. Remove bolts (6) and eyebolts (4). Remove cover (5).

  4. Remove bolts (7) and front door (8).

  5. Remove tie straps (12). Disconnect harness (10).

  6. Remove retaining hardware (9). Remove ECM (11).

  7. Disconnect harness assembly (13) from the temperature sensor. Disconnect harness assembly (14) from the heater group. Disconnect harness assembly (15) from the pressure sensor. Disconnect harness assembly (16) and harness assembly (17) from the solenoid valve groups.

  8. Disconnect harness assembly (18) from the junction block. Disconnect harness assembly (19) from the pump heater. Disconnect harness assembly (20) and harness assembly (21) from the pump group.

  9. If equipped, remove the heater wrap from the exhaust fluid pump group.

  10. Remove locknuts (22) and bars (23) from diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24).

  11. Remove diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24) and manifold group (25) as an assembly.

  12. Remove bolts (26). Disconnect diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24) from manifold group (25).

  13. Remove solenoid valve group (27), solenoid valve group (29), and the O-ring seals from the manifold group.

  14. Remove temperature sensor group (31) and the O-ring seal from the manifold group.

  15. Remove pressure sensor (30) and the O-ring seal from the manifold group.

  16. Remove adapter assembly (28), adapter assembly (33), and the O-ring seals from the manifold group .

  17. Remove heater assembly (32) from the manifold group.

  18. Remove valve assembly (34) and valve assembly (35) from diesel exhaust fluid pump group (24).

  19. Remove bolts (37) to remove pump head (36) from the pump group.

  20. Remove diaphragm (38) from the pump group.

  21. Disconnect the remaining connectors and remove all cable straps. Remove the wiring harness assembly from the control cabinet.

  22. Remove bolts (40). Remove manifold group (39) from the control cabinet.

  23. Remove pressure sensor (41) and the O-ring seal from manifold group (39).

  24. Remove solenoid valve (42) and the O-ring seal.

  25. Remove regulator (43) and the O-ring seal.
