Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock.

  1. Park the machine on a flat, level surface. Lower the bucket to the ground. Chock the wheels to prevent the machine from rolling when the drive shaft is removed.

  2. Remove bolts (2) from center drive shaft (1). Position center drive shaft (1) out of the way.

  3. Remove bolt (4) and the retainer. Remove yoke (3).

  4. Remove bolts (5).

  5. Position Tooling (A) to support front drive shaft (6). Remove carrier bearing (7).

  6. Remove lock wire (10) and setscrew (9) from carrier bearing (7).

  7. Remove fitting (8).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install carrier bearing (7) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (B) to front drive shaft (6) in the area marked (X) prior to installing carrier bearing (7).

    2. After carrier bearing (7) has been installed onto front drive shaft (6), tighten setscrew (9) until setscrew (9) bottoms into the keyway. Back off setscrew (9) 1/2 turn.

      Note: Do not misalign carrier bearing (7) beyond an angle of ± 2 degrees.

    3. Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 520 ± 70 N·m (384 ± 52 lb ft).

    4. Tighten bolts (2) in an X pattern to a torque of 150 ± 15 N·m (111± 11lb ft). Retighten bolts (2) to a torque of 150 ± 15 N·m (111± 11lb ft).

      Note: Replace the run down bolts (2) with the new drive line bolts (2).
