Description of Change: The material of the new top liner seal is more resistant to deterioration. The new top liner seal has better sealing capability. The new top liner seal is orange in color on the outer diameter to differentiate from the former yellow seal.
Adaptable To:

The new 352-6061 Liner Seal (1) is a direct replacement for the former 339-4950 Liner Seal .
The new seal is adaptable back to first production on all 3500 Engines.
Installation Procedure
Use the following procedure in order to install the cylinder liner:
- Make sure that the following surfaces are clean and dry: top surface of the cylinder block, cylinder liner bores, cylinder liner flanges and spacer plates. Remove any sharp edges in the cylinder block area that will be in contact with the top liner seal.
- Install the new seal dry on the liner.
Note: The new seal is only applicable for chamfered cylinder blocks. The 8N-4707 Filler Band is still available for service for the cylinder blocks that are not chamfered. For information on machining chamfers in the cylinder block bores, refer to the above referenced publication.
- Before you install the cylinder liner in the cylinder block, apply a thin film of the 5N-5561 Silicone Lubricant to the seal and to a distance of 5 mm (0.2 inch) of the chamfer in the cylinder liner bore. Do not apply any lubricant to the liner flange or to the top of the cylinder block.
- After installing the liner in the cylinder block, use a feeler gauge to make sure that the seal is not pinched. The liner will have a clear block surface contact metal sound if the seal goes into position correctly. Refer to the above Disassembly and Assembly for the procedure that is used to measure the cylinder liner projection.
